Aromatherapy

Marsha uses essential oils in all her treatments, as she believes they have a profound effect physically, emotionally and spiritually enriching and deepening each therapy. A unique blend of essential oils will be mixed for each client for the hot stone reflexology and healing treatments. When individual essential oils are blended together to create a synergy, the combination oil is enhanced and enriched to create a more profound healing for the client. The remaining oil is bottled and given to each client to take home so that they can continue the healing process.

Aromatherapy is the art and science of utilizing naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants to balance, harmonize and promote the health of the body, mind and spirit.  It seeks to unify physiological, psychological and spiritual processes to enhance an individual’s innate healing process. Research has shown that essential oils have many properties including anti-inflammatory, anti-infectious, anti-viral, anti-spasmodic and calming. Psychologically, they have been shown to uplift, relax and stimulate the body and mind.

Essential oils are concentrated extracts taken from the roots, leaves, seeds, or blossoms of plants. Each oil contains its own mix of active ingredients and this mix determines what condition the oil can be best used to help. As each of us is unique, it is necessary to blend oils specifically for each client according to their needs. When diluted and applied to skin, the innate healing powers of these natural essences are effective on many levels.

Marsha also uses subtle aromatherapy as part of her energy healing treatment, the use of essential oils on the aura and energy centers of the body. Subtle aromatherapy uses essential oils in a nonphysical way, drawing on the energetic vibrational qualities of the oils to heal the subtle body,  which in turn will heal the physical body.

Marsha has had extensive training and many years of experience in using aromatherapy, energy healing and essential oils, understanding the chemical and the therapeutic properties of each oil, which she believes enhances her energy healing work.

The Skin
Skin problems are often the surface manifestation of deeper conditions, such as a buildup of toxins in the blood, hormonal imbalance or nervous and emotional difficulties. The essential oils that help with skin problems usually have antiseptic, any-inflammatory and/or fungicidal qualities. They can be used for burns, scars and parasites. Some oils serve as nerve tonics and sedatives that can relieve stress and strengthen the nervous system.

The Circulation, Muscles and Joint
Essential oils are easily absorbed via the skin into the bloodstream, affecting the whole body’s circulation. Some oils can provide considerable pain relief through their analgesic effect and others have a balancing effect on the circulatory system, helping to reduce blood pressure. Other oils are lymphatic stimulants, helping with obesity and water retention, the reduction of which in turn can help with joint pain.

The Genito-urinary and Endocrine Systems
Some essential oils are used to help the reproductive system, having a strengthening effect as well as helping combat menstrual problems, genital infections and sexual difficulties. There are aphrodisiac oils for impotence and frigidity as well as uterine tonics and regulator oils that can help with pregnancy, excess menstruation and PMT.

The Nervous System
Some essential oils are adaptogens and their use and application is known as adpatogenic, which refers to the pharmacological concept whereby administration results in stabilization of physiological processes and promotion of homeostasis, for example, decreased cellular sensitivity to stress.

The Respiratory System
Nose, throat and lung infections are conditions that respond well to treatment with essential oils antiseptic oils can be used as a preventative for colds and flu; expectorant oils are good for for sinusitis, coughs and bronchitis; and antispasmodic oils can help with for colic and asthma.

The Digestive System
Through external application the essential oils can effectchange to digestive disorders. Certain oils are Cholagogues, medicinal agents which promote the discharge of bile from the system, and stimulate the gall bladder. Other oils are antispasmodics, which can help with pain and indigestion while others arecarminatives which can help to prevent formation of and the expulsion of gas in the gastrointestinal tract.

The Immune System
The majority of essential oils have bactericidal properties, which promote white blood cell, the cells of the immune system that are involved in protecting the body against both infectious disease and foreign invaders. Antiviral agents in the oils help protect against colds and flu. Febrifuge oils help to reduce fever and temperature.
