Reflexology
Reflexology is a deeply relaxing and energizing holistic therapy that treats the whole person rather than just the symptoms of disease. The body is often in a state of imbalance, particularly after illness, injury or periods of stress, preventing the body from functioning effectively. The aim of reflexology is to release any blockages and restore the free flow of energy and blood circulation to the whole body. To achieve this, specific techniques are applied to reflex areas on the feet that correspond to tissues, organs and systems throughout the entire body. Stimulating these reflexes encourages the body to heal itself, restoring and maintaining natural equilibrium, as well as promoting relaxation and a general sense of well-being.
HOT STONE REFLEXOLOGY
It is quite a different experience.
The heat from the smooth basalt stones brings a deeper level of relaxation than reflexology alone.
Hot stone reflexology combines the benefits of an individual reflexology treatment with the stones to enable deep stimulation of the reflex points for a relaxing and deeply rejuvenating full body treatment.
The heat from the stones improves the relaxation response and increases healing through improved blood flow and circulation.
The subtle energies of the stones help relax muscle tension and promote a meditative state.
Treatments can bring relief to a wide range of other conditions, including:
Digestive disorders
Migraines
Insomnia
High blood pressure
Stress
Recuperation after illness
Rebalancing hormones
Fertility problems
Food allergies & intolerances
To counteract the effects of long term medication - by helping to eliminate toxins from the body and restoring natural organ function
After physical or emotional trauma
Whilst the feet are worked, hot stones are placed under the body to induce complete sense of tranquility.
It is estimated that one stroke with a stone is worth five strokes with the hand, thus Hot Stones reflexology is calculated to be five times deeper and last five times longer than a conventional treatment with the hands alone.
Reflexology treats the whole person rather than just the symptoms of disease. It is a deeply relaxing holistic therapy, which can have pretty instant results, although this depends on the length of the condition.
What to expect in a Reflexology with Hot Stones
The client remains fully clothed except for their shoes and socks. The client will lie on the massage table on top of two rows of hot stones, which run along either side of their spine. The stones are under a blanket for the client’s protection and comfort. This may sound uncomfortable, but after a short time clients often say they completely forget about the stones, enjoying their heat and energy.
A personal blend of essential oils will be prepared which is then massaged using hot stones into the feet and lower legs. The treatment of reflexology with hot stones is deeply relaxing, releasing any blockages and detoxifying the body.
The client will be given the remaining oil to take with them so they can continue the healing.
Following a treatment, it is important that the client drinks plenty of water afterwards to flush away any toxins that may have been released, to help prevent headaches and to prevent feeling tired.
